The Institute invites applications for the following completely temporary positions for its Sikkim Unit.

Qualified candidates may appear for a Walk in Interview on 24.03.2014 (11.00 AM) at the Office premises of the Sikkim Unit Campus-Pangthang Gangtok, East Sikkim 737101.

Age Limit: Not exceeding 28 years.

Position 1: Understanding Biodiversity patterns and process under changing resource use and climatic scenario in the Indian Himalaya- Ecological and Social Implications (Project 7)

1. Junior Research Fellow (01) @ Rs 12,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA as per Institute norms; @ Rs 16,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA for NET qualified persons (as per norms)

First class Masters degree in Botany/Zoology/ Forestry/Ecology/ Life Sciences/ Biological or Environmental Science, etc with good academic records

Biodiversity conservation studies and trekking experience in mountains

Conduct intensive field research and maintain biodiversity data bases of the Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve (Sikkim)

Position 2: Promoting conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements using biotechnological and physiological approaches (Project 8)

2. Junior Research Fellow (01) @ Rs 12,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA as per Institute norms; @ Rs 16,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA for NET qualified persons (as per norms)

First class Masters degree in Plant sciences/Conservation Biology/ Botany/ Forestry/ Life Sciences/ Environmental Sciences

Biodiversity studies and working field experience in Himalaya Conventional propagation & maintenance/establishment of arboretum, nurseries; Plant population studies, etc in field/ organize training/ awareness on biodiversity conservation

Position 3: Promoting conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements using biotechnological and physiological approaches (Project 8)

3. Junior Research Fellow (01) @Rs 12,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA as per Institute norms; @ Rs 16,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA for NET qualified persons (as per norms)

First class Masters degree in Botany/ Plant Sciences/ Environmental Sciences/ Forestry/ Plant Biotechnology

Preference will be given to candidates having experience of working in Himalayan
region.

• To conduct survey and establish nursery at field sites.

• Plant propagation (by tissue culture & conventional methods) & field establishment.

Position 4: Promoting conservation and sustainable utilization of Himalayan biodiversity elements using biotechnological and physiological approaches: "Ecophysiological responses of selected wild fruit tree species of Sikkim Himalaya to soil water content"(Project 8)

4. Junior Research Fellow (01) @Rs 12,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA as per

First class Masters degree in Botany/Environmental Sciences/Plant studies.

Preference will be given to candidates having research experience in the relevant field or NET qualified.

The work involves both field and laboratory based physiological, biochemical and growth Institute norms; @ Rs 16,000/- (Fixed Per Month) + HRA for NET qualified persons (as per norms) biotechnology.
