Walk-in-interview to engage Project Personnel
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage 08 Project Personnel viz., 04–Project Fellows, 02–Senior Project Fellows and 02–Project Associates (Indian national only) through a walk-in-interview on Monday, 16th February 2015. The details of the available positions along with essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are given below:
Study Component - 1: Evaluation of ecosystem services of Munnar High Range Mountain Landscape.
Position : Project Fellow - 3 nos
Fellowship Rs. 25,000/month + HRA
Duration 1 year
Essential Qualification M.Sc. (Botany/Zoology/Forestry/Life Science/Environmental Sciences/ Biological Sciences/Wildlife Science or any other subject relevant to Wildlife Sciences) or M.A. (Sociology/Economics) degree from a recognised University with a minimum 60% aggregate marks.
Desirable Qualification Experience of carrying out studies on Natural Resource Management/ Biodiversity conservation, vegetation sampling, evaluating ecosystem services in natural or human modified landscape.
Age limit The age limit not exceeding 30 years. Age relaxation up to a maximum of 5 years would be available to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/ OBC and women candidates.
Task Collect data on ecosystem services from the forested and human modified landscapes of Munnar Landscape through field work and social surveys. Assist Senior Project Fellow in data collection, analysis and report writing.
Position : Senior Project Fellow - 2 nos
Fellowship Rs. 28,000/month + HRA
Duration 1 year
Essential Qualification  M.Sc.(Botany/Zoology/Forestry/Life Science/Environmental Sciences/  Biological Sciences/Wildlife Science or any other subject relevant to Wildlife Sciences) or M.A. (Sociology/Economics) degree from a recognised University with a minimum 60% aggregate marks and at least 2 years research experience after Post-Graduation.
Desirable Qualification Experience of carrying out studies on natural resource Management/ Biodiversity conservation, vegetation sampling, evaluating ecosystem services in natural or human modified landscape.
Age limit The age limit not exceeding 30 years. Age relaxation up to a maximum of 35 years would be available to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and women candidates.
Task Carry out literature reviews, collate and organize and synthesize available information on ecosystem services of mountain landscape. Collect, collate and analyze field data on ecosystem services from the forested and human modified landscapes of Munnar Landscape through field work and social surveys. Assist Project Associate in analysis and report writing.
Position : Project Associate - 1 nos.
Fellowship Rs. 40,000/month + HRA
Duration 1 year
Essential Qualification Ph.D. degree in Botany/Zoology/Wildlife Sciences/Environmental Sciences/Life Sciences so far as it is relevant to studies in wildlife science, have published research work to their credit.
Desirable Qualification Minimum 4 years of research experience after Masters degree on any of the above mentioned subject with at least one publication in impact factor journal.
Age limit The age limit not exceeding 40 years. Age relaxation up to a maximum of 5 years would be available to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and women candidates.
Task Carry out literature reviews, collate and organize and synthesize available information on ecosystem services of mountain landscape. Collect data on ecosystem services from the forested and human modified landscapes of Munnar Landscape through research scholars and field assistants. Estimate carbon contents, moisture and nutrient contents in vegetation and soil. Collect, collate and analyze socioeconomic data through surveys and stakeholder meetings. Assist in preparation of draft and final report.
Study Component – 2: Assessment of the compatibility of the development plans and land-use patterns with the objectives of biodiversity conservation and resource planning in the Munnar landscape and suggesting measures to enhance project outcomes.
Position : Project Associate - 1 nos.
Fellowship Rs. 40,000/month + HRA
Duration 1 year
Essential Qualification Ph.D. degree in Botany/Zoology/Wildlife Sciences/Environmental Sciences/Life Sciences so far as it is relevant to studies in wildlife science, and record of published research work OR a Technocrat with 4 year Graduate degree and 2 year Masters degree in Planning from a Technical University/Institution.
Desirable Qualification Proven experience of conducting impact assessment of projects in major sectors and landscape level assessments, zonation and sectoral planning.
Age limit The age limit not exceeding 40 years. Age relaxation up to a maximum of 5 years would be available to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and women candidates.
Task Conduct desk and field based studies and computer aided assessments for evaluating compatibility of development planning and conservation oriented objectives in the landscape and recommend planning options for improving the project performance.
Position : Project Fellow - 1 nos.
Fellowship Rs. 25,000/month + HRA
Duration 1 year
Essential Qualification M.Sc. (Botany/Zoology/Forestry/Life Science/Environmental Sciences/ Environmental Management/Biological Sciences/Wildlife Science or any other subject relevant to Wildlife Sciences) degree from a recognised University with a minimum 60% aggregate marks with one year experience of working on projects related to strategic planning, land use change and development plans.
Desirable Qualification Experience in field data collection.
Experience in desk studies related to conservation.
Age limit The age limit not exceeding 30 years. Age relaxation up to a maximum of 5 years would be available to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/ OBC and women candidates.
Task Review literature, conduct field based studies to examine the overall development plans and land use patterns, mapping areas under different land use/ development plans and overlap with conservation areas for assessment of impacts on biodiversity.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
  1. The selection of the candidates will be based on `Walk-in-Interview’ scheduled to be conducted at theWildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehra Dun on Monday, 16th February 2015.
  2. The selection offer to the candidates will be on purely contractual basis up to one year initially and it may be extended for further period(s) depending upon the requirement of the project and satisfactory performance of the candidates.
  3. Selected candidate(s) will be paid a consolidated amount of Rs. 25000/-, Rs. 28000/- and Rs. 40000/- as fellowship per month plus admissible HRA for Project Fellow, Senior Project Fellow and Project Associate respectively.
  4. The selected candidates need to join immediately or at a short notice.
  5. The selection of the candidate(s) will be based on the interview to be held on Monday, 16th February2015 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration of the candidates for the advertised positions will be done from 09:00 to 10:00hrs on 16th February 2015 at WII. Late entrants after the stipulated time as mentioned above for registration will not be entertained, in any case.
  6. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
  7. Candidate(s) should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials   of educational qualifications, research experience, extra-curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration for document verification. Applications without enclosures and/or incomplete in any respect shall be rejected.
  8. No TA/DA and accommodation will be provided to the candidates appearing for the walk-in-interview.
  9. Candidates will have to make their own arrangements for stay while attending the interview.

  11. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information provided by the candidate or for any other reason.
