National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali, is an autonomous R&DInstitute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The institute is establishing a state of art facility in the area of genomics (ABI 3730xl, RT-PCR, DNA analyzer, bioanalyzer, liquid handling system, automated DNA extraction system, LCM, Mass-Array (sequenom), etc), proteomics (MALDI-TOF-TOF, Q-TOF, nano-LC, HPLC, GCMS-MS, HP-TLC, UPLC, etc.), high performance computing facility, and food science (NIR, FTIR, SEM, etc.).The institute carries out cutting edge research at the interface of agricultural biotechnology, bioinformatics, food processing, and nutritional sciences. Major research programs aim at

i) understanding the interactions among proteins, carbohydrates, lipids,accumulation of micronutrients, enhancing bioavailability, health functions and processing quality of foods,
ii) crop improvement through both molecular breeding and transgenic approaches, and
iii) the development of novel food products and technologies.

Applications are invited from candidates with high level of creativity, skills and drive for carrying out research in the above areas for JRF, SRF, and RA positions as per the emoluments guidelines and service conditions notified by DST (A.20020/11/97-IFD dated 31stMarch, 2010). The total monthly emoluments shall vary from Rs 12000/- to Rs 24000/-per month plus HRA as applicable depending upon the position applied for. Scholars close tosubmitting their PhD thesis or finishing their Master’s degree may also apply. They will be considered subject to their fulfilling all the eligibility conditions before the date of interview.NABI may or may not select candidates against one or more of the above posts depending upon the suitability of the candidate to carry out high quality research in the areas of interest to the institute.

The prescribed upper age limits ( 35 years for RA, 32 years for SRF and 28 years for JRF) are relaxable upto 5 years in case of SC/ST, Women, Physically Challenged and OBC applicants.Applications may be sent clearly mentioning the post applied for, complete address, experience along with the list of publications and other relevant information by post to the Administrative Officer, National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute, C-127, Industrial Area, Phase VIII, S.A.S Nagar-160071 Punjab and email to “fellow@nabi.res.in” so as to reach latest by June 15, 2011.

Suitable candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their area of training, research experience and skill relevance to the institute.
