Jawaharlal Nehru
University has been granted funds by the Department of Biotechnology
(DBT), Govt. of India to initiate an Inter-School programme in JNU to
strengthen training and research called "DBT-Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-Interdisciplinary Life Science Programme for Advanced Research and education"
with the broad project area entitled "From Molecules to Systems:
Exploring biological space using chemical and synthetic biology" cutting
across Physical, Chemical and Biological Sciences.
Applications are
invited for the following purely temporary posts at various levels in
the various Groups of project for Research, Four Junior Research Fellows, One Senior Research Fellow and One
Post Doctoral Fellow. The project is upto March 2017, but the
appointments shall be initially for a period of one year, renewable
every year depending on the performance of project staff:

Project Sub-Title: Structure, function, and dynamics of biomolecules and molecular engineering.
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF)- 01 Post
Qualifications:
M.Sc/BTech in Computational Biology/ Bioinformatics and related fields.
The
project requirement is in the field of genome wide simulation of plant
systems. The candidates should have practical experience in
Bioinformatics /Computational Biology related to genomics &
proteomics , developing programs/research experience (after degree) in
Infectious disease or plant related research field. Programming skills
and knowledge in statistics is minimum requirement. Knowledge in large
data analysis & systems Biology will be desirable.

- Junior Research Fellow (JRF)- 01 Post
Qualifications:
M.Sc. in Chemistry (with major in Physical Chemistry)/Physics
The
project requirement is in the field of single molecule and ultrafast
spectroscopy, and molecular dynamics simulation to study drug-DNA and
lipid-ligand interactions. The candidate must have practical experience
of using these experimental and computational techniques to study
biological macromolecules. Instrumentation and programming skills are
also required for this position.

Qualifications:
M.Sc/BTech in Biotechnology / life sciences and related fields
The
project requirement is in the field of structure determination and
docking. The candidates should have practical experience in
biotechnology related to structure determination (after degree) related
to Infectious disease.
Candidate with NET qualification and with publication will be preferred.

- Senior Research Fellow (SRF)- 01 Post
Qualifications:
M. Sc. In Chemical/Life Sciences or related fields.
Candidates
should have at least two years practical research experience in
molecular/ cell biology techniques and parasite/mammalian cell culture
after M. Sc. Documented practical knowledge of synthetic chemistry will
be required.
Candidate with NET qualification will be preferred.

Fellowship: Rs. 14000+30% HRA p.m.
- Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF)- 01 Post
Essential Qualifications: PhD
in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), specialized in the area of
Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Molecular Dynamics &
Simulation and Systems Biology, reflected by thesis topics or
publication of papers during PhD and/or Post Doctoral experience. Those
who have submitted Thesis may also apply.
Desirable
Qualifications: Computational methods and designing experience in the
field of Structure based or ligand based drug design, Chemo
informatics, Programming capabilities as required for developing tools
in the computational & systems Biology.

Project Title: "Creating a repressor mimetic for regulating fungal Erg11 gene and treating fungal infections"
Investigator: Dr. Sneha S. Komath, SLS
Essential qualifications: M. Sc. in life sciences/ Molecular biology/ Microbiology/Biotechnology/Biophysics.The candidate should necessarily have experience in handling mammalian cell cultures as well as fungal cell cultures.
Desirable qualifications: A good background knowledge of fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy.
Fellowship: Rs. 12000+30% HRA p.m.
(Note:
Revised emoluments shall be payable if Educational Qualifications or
Eligibility Criteria as per DST OM No. A.20020/11/97-IFD dated
31-03-2010 are met by the research personnel). PDF salary is
consolidated.
