I am looking for a motivated Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to join the CSIR project entitled “Identification and phylogenetic characterization of genes regulating unique flowering behavior in tree bamboo”.
The
project is likely to start on 1st. October, 2014 and the current tenure
of the scheme is 3 years. However, this project is a part of a long
term project and therefore there are possibilities of extension based on
satisfactory progress after 3 years.
Monthly
salary for the first two year will be Rs. 16000 basic plus 30% HRA and
on the third year it will be Rs. 18000 basic plus 30% HRA.
The JRF will have ample of opportunities to learn molecular biological and bioinformatics techniques in this project.
Das
laboratory is a part of the Department of Biological Sciences,
Presidency University. The Department has recently received big grants
from Department of Biotechnology, DBT and Department of Science and
Technology, DST and is going to be equipped with state of the art
central instrumentation facilities within few months.

The
potential applicants must have acquired a first class M.Sc. degree in
Biological Sciences (Botany/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Molecular
Biology/Bioinformatics) and have qualified NET/GATE. Experience in basic
computer programming, proficiency in English and interest in Plant
Science will be considered as a plus.
The
fellow will need to explore wild vegetation of North-East India to
