Position required to be filled for period of months - 12

Essential Qualifications MSc in Applied Microbiology with minimum two years research experience in marine microbiology.

Desirable Experience in isolation and identification of marine microbes from sediments & marine organisms, phylogenic identification of micro organisms and knowledge of chromatographic techniques. Working knowledge on computers is desirable. Knowledge of handling instruments such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, spectrophotometer, autoclave, centrifuge, etc.

Job requirement Participation in fieldwork for the collection of marine organisms from the coasts of India. Isolation and maintenance of microbial cultures. Preparation of crude extracts for biological screening, mass culture of microorganisms and bio-assay guided isolation of antimicrobial compounds. The candidate should assist the project leader in preparation of reports and should be able to work independently
