Postdoctoral position in tropical agriculture/agricultural systems/agroecology at Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium


Description : In the context of the Consortium for improving Agriculture-based Livelihoods in Central Africa (CIALCA), we seek a candidate with an interest in agricultural systems, innovation in agriculture, agroecology, and agronomy. You will be expected to supervise PhD students and publish in international (refereed) journals. We offer a stimulating and friendly working environment where you are expected to contribute to increasing our understanding of the agricultural systems and the role of innovation in the improvement of livelihoods in Central and East Africa. The work implies frequent missions in Rwanda, Burundi and East Congo.

Requirements
University Graduate

The ideal candidate:
-Has completed a PhD in the field of agricultural sciences or related disciplines.
-Has published in internationally refereed scientific journals.
-Has a broad knowledge of agricultural systems and agronomy in the tropics
-Appreciates an international environment.
-Is fluent in either English or French and has a good knowledge of the other language.
- The following elements are an asset:
- skills in statistics and methodological aspects of research
- knowledge of the tropical agricultural systems especially banana, coffee and cassava
- expertise in innovation applied to agriculture
- previous experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
