Earth Science and Technology Cell for ‘Marine Biotechnological Studies’ (ESTC-MBS) has been established in Centre for Ocean Research (COR), Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, in association with NIOT, Chennai & CMLRE, Cochin with the support of MoES. The Project Coordinator is Dr B. Sheela Rani, Director (Research), Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. To take forward the vision and mission of ESTC-MBS, applications are invited from the suitable candidates for the JRF positions – 6, Accounts Assistant – 1 and Field Assistant – 1. 
Eligibility for JRF: Postgraduation in Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Nanotechnology/Marine Biology/Aquaculture and Allied Sciences with GATE/NET qualification/any other National level examinations conducted by Government of India related to life sciences. 
Project-1: Studies on the implications of engineered nanoparticles and bionanocomposites in aquatic animal health. PI: Dr D. Inbakandan, Head, Scientist-E, COR. 
Desirable: Experience in ecotoxicology, phyto/zooplankton culture and aquaculture. 
Project-2: Surface modification – Nanotechnological approach for antifouling and anticorrosion applications. PI: Dr D. Inbakandan, Head, Scientist-E, COR. 
Desirable: Experience in bacterial films, larval settlement, biofouling/ anticorrosion. 
Project-3: Enhancement of marine microbial by-products for biomedical applications. PI: Dr L. Stanley Abraham, Scientist-E, COR. 
Desirable: Experience in microbial techniques and biopolymers. 
Project-4: Biofunctionalization nanoparticles for anticancer applications using marine biosources. PI: Dr V. Ganesh Kumar, Scientist-E, COR. 
Desirable: Experience in nanomedicine and drug delivery studies. 
Project-5: Isolation and identification of bioactive compounds from marine sponges for white spot syndrome virus control. PI: Dr K. Govindaraju, Scientist-E, COR. 
Desirable: Experience in shrimp aquaculture/virology/marine biotechnology. 
Field Assistant – 1: 
Qualification: B.Sc. Life Sciences. Experience in microbial sampling and processing.
