DBT-JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (DBT-JRF) IN BIOTECHNOLOGY 2013
(Co-ordinated by National Centre for Cell Science, Pune)
DBT JRF programme has been started from the year 2004. 275 JRFs are
selected through Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET), being conducted
this year by NCCS, Pune. Fellowships are provided for an initial
period of 3 years which could be extended up to five years.
Contingency grant of Rs.30, 000/- per fellow per annum is also provided.
Top ranking 100 students in merit are given option to join any
institute of their choice in the country for pursuing Ph.D. Option is
given to next 175 candidates in merit list to join DBT supported PG
teaching universities and DBT institutes.

Centres/Institutes Offering Positions
There will be 2 Categories of JRF's selected: Category A and Category B.
Category A (Top 100 successful candidates): Fellowship is tenable /can
be activated in any University/ Institute in India where the Candidates
can register for Ph.D.
Category B (Next 175 successful
candidates): Fellowship is tenable exclusively at the 71 DBT-supported
teaching centres/departments running DBT-supported master’s program and
14 DBT Institutes where the students can register for PhD. (List of
centres is displayed below).

DETAILS OF THE AWARD
The fellowship will be initially for a period of 3 years extendable for 2
more years based on performance. By the end of 2nd year the
performance of JRF will be assessed and will be upgraded to SRF. The
fellowship for JRF / SRF will be @ Rs. 16, 000/- / 18, 000/- per month +
HRA as per host Institute norms, and a research contingency of Rs. 30,
000/- per year.
MODE OF SELECTION for DBT JRF 2013
The candidates will be selected based on a single session online
admission test, “Biotechnology Eligibility Test” (BET) to be conducted
on 21st April, 2013 at 10 AM in the following twelve cities:
New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Bengaluru,
Chandigarh, Lucknow, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram & Ahmedabad.
Candidates, only belonging to SC/ST/Physically challenged, called for
BET examination will be paid II class railway (non-AC)/bus fare by the
shortest route from their home town, on production of supportive
documents of competent authority. The details of examination centres in
above cities will be notified later on the website and on the Hall
Ticket.
MODE OF APPLICATION Candidates should register and apply online in the prescribed application form obtainable at the URL
http://nccs.sifyitest.com/BET2013
starting on 25th February 2013. All the details about the application
process and the examination are available on the web site. The last date
for submission of online application form is 27th March, 2013. Stepwise
procedure for filling the online application form, payment of
application fees and uploading of required documents/certificates is
given in the above said URL. An application fee of Rs. 500/- for Open
and Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/PH categories is payable either online or
offline as detailed on the web site for completion of application
process. The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
