Junior Research Fellowship: Rs. 15,600 per month inclusive of all benefits.
Responsibilities:
1) Design, plan and execute experiments under the supervision of the scientist.
(experiments include, screening NCEs using biochemical and cell based assays).
2) Provide scientific support to the scientist in his research activities.
3) Book keeping and maintenance of stocks and consumables.
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Microbiology/Medical Microbiology/ Biotechnology or any other branch of Life Sciences/M. tech in Biotechnology from a recognized university / institute with a consistent first class academic record above 60%. Should be willing to learn, able to multi-task and must possess skills in MS-Office.
Experience: 0-2 years preferably in the areas of microbiology and Cell Biology.
Preferable: Relevant research experience as evident from dissertation/project work.
Duration: The duration of the fellowship is for one year, may be extend one more year if the project is extended. However, the performance of the candidate will be reviewed after the completion of every year and the fellowship will be renewed only upon satisfactory performance. No claim should be made for the extrapolation of this work into PhD program now or later.

The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology (Government of India) has established the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), an autonomous institution, as a part of the interdisciplinary Health Biotech Science Cluster, in the National Capital Region. To further its mission THSTI is looking for highly motivated faculty with expertise in relevant areas.
Vaccine and Infectious Disease Research Center (VIDRC) has a mission to study infectious disease and pathogens and understand host-pathogen interactions at the molecular and cellular level with an aim to generate translational knowledge for developing prophylactic and therapeutic measures against diseases prevalent in India.
Pediatric Biology Center (PBC) will conduct hypothesis driven research on the biological basis of childhood health and diseases. The generated knowledge will be incorporated in THSTI institutional networks developing diagnostic and therapeutic modalities.
Centre for Bio design (CBD) will promote strategic basic research and an effective translational route of science into development of novel technology platforms, implants, devices, diagnostics and imaging.

Walk-in interview
A Walk-in interview will be held on 26th March 2012 at 11.00 a.m. in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Tezpur University, for appointment of 02 (Two) Junior Research Fellows under the following DBT-Twinning Projects of Dr. Manabendra Mandal, Associate Professor, Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology.
Title of the Projects :
1. “Study of microbial diversity and biochemical characteristics of selected non alcoholic fermented (milk, vegetable and pulses) food product of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh” and
2. “Isolation and characterization of hydrogen producing bacteria from North-Eastern states of India, (With special emphasis on Assam and Arunachal Pradesh), for efficient conversion of biomass to hydrogen
Fellowship : Rs.16000+ 10% HRA p.m. for the first two years (JRF) and Rs. 18000+ 10% HRA p.m. for the 3rd year (SRF) will be applicable to NET/GATE/BET/BINC qualified candidates.
Rs. 12000+10% HRA p.m. for the first two years and Rs 14,000+10% HRA p.m. for the 3rd year (SRF) for other candidate.
Educational Qualification: Candidate must possess a M.Sc. in Microbiology/ Biotechnology/Botany/Zoology or any branch of Life sciences from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA for general category and for SC/ST/OBC relaxation will be given as per Government of India rules.
Age Limit: Candidate should not be more than 28 years of age on the date of interview. Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidate belonging to OBC/SC/ST.
Period : 3 years or till completion of the project whichever is earlier.
