2. Stipend will be paid at the rates sanctioned in the respective sponsored projects. In addition, HRA is also payable depending on the sanction of the project. In case of engagement in CSIR Network projects, only consolidated stipend is payable and HRA is not admissible.

4. The above positions are for the sponsored/network projects funded by external funding agencies, and are purely temporary and co-terminus with the duration of the project of 1/2/3 years duration.

Application for Ph.D. Programme: IICT-PhD – May 2011

IICT invites applications from highly talented and research oriented candidates interested in pursuing PhD Program at IICT for the Academic Session starting in August 2011.

Eligibility:

Candidate must fulfil the following eligibility criteria.

i) First class M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Chemical, Biological sciences AND
ii) Qualified in CSIR/UGC-NET Examination with a valid Rank OR candidate with a valid DST Inspire fellowship in the above disciplines
Please note that the candidates who have passed NET examination under Lectureship category only are NOT eligible.

Selection:

Selection for admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall be on the basis of the interview(s) of short listed candidates at IICT. Presently there are 17 Vacancies in Chemical Sciences and 3 Vacancies in Biological Sciences.

Fellowship:

Candidates selected for the PhD Program at IICT shall draw their fellowship and other allowances, contingency etc., as per their scheme.

Application procedure:

1. Candidates who fulfil the above eligibility criteria may apply in the prescribed format with this notification.
2. A scanned copy of the filled-in Application form may be mailed to phdatiict@gmail.com
Alternatively a hard copy of the application can also be submitted in the AcSIR Office at IICT during 12.00 Noon to 1.00 PM on all working days from May 30, 2011 till the last day of receipt of applications.
3. In addition, the candidates must also furnish relevant information in the enclosed Excel, sheet and mail it to phdatiict@gmail.com

Last date of receipt of complete application (including Excel Sheet) of application is June 10, 2011. The interview(s) for selection of PhD are likely to be conducted on June 28, 29, 2011 at IICT. Please note that as per the applicable norms no TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates appearing for the interview.

Job Profile :

Candidate will be involved in various activities related to the research work, microbial analysis of distillery related samples, fermentation studies, literature survey, compilation of data, preparation of drafts and reports etc. Candidate will also be involved in conducting practicals of the Microbiology subject for the Diploma in Industrial Fermentation and Alcohol Technology course conducted by the Institute.
Qualifications: M. Sc. (Microbiology) with genuine interest in research work.
Experience: About 6-12 Months experience of research or teaching work will be preferred.
