WALK-IN INTERVIEW for DBT Projects

Eligible candidates are invited to attend the walk-in interview on 09th December 2009 at 9.30 a.m for the following temporary posts to work under different projects at the Directorate of Sorghum Research (DSR), Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, such as following and which are likely to be funded soon.


I. DBT project on “Developing low-HCN accumulating forage sorghum using anti-sense approach”. Duration: 4 months

Senior Research Fellow (SRF) - 1 post
Qualifications - Essential: First class M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Molecular biology/ Plant Sciences
Desirable: Work experience in genetic transformation and molecular characterization of transgenics in crop plants as evidenced by publications/ project work/ thesis work
Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs.12000/- p.m. plus 30%HRA

Technical Assistant - 1 post
Qualifications - Essential: M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Botany/ Plant Sciences/ Life Sciences Desirable: Experience in molecular biology techniques, plant tissue culture, transformation, DNA extraction, etc.
Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs. 8000/- p.m.
II. DBT project on “Genetic transformation and molecular analysis of Indian sweet sorghum genotypes with Bt gene constructs”. Duration: 1.5 years

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - 1 post
Qualifications - Essential: First class M.Sc. Genetics/ Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Plant Breeding
Desirable: Experience in molecular biology techniques, plant tissue culture, transformation, DNA extraction, etc.
Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs.12000/- p.m. plus 30%HRA
Technical Helper - 1 post
Qualifications - Essential: M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Plant Sciences/ Biology. Desirable: Knowledge in computer applications
Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs. 6000/- p.m.
III. DBT project on “Relating differential gene expression in sorghum hybrids and their parental lines at critical developmental stages with heterosis”. Duration: 3 years

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) - 1 post
Qualifications - Essential: First class M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Molecular biology/ Plant Breeding/ Genetics/ Plant Sciences
Desirable: Work experience in RNA isolation, gene expression analysis in plants, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, cloning as evidenced by publications/ project work/ thesis work
Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs.12000/- p.m. plus 30%HRA for 1st and 2nd years, Rs. 14000/- plus 30%HRA for 3rd year
Project Assistant - 1 post
Qualifications - Essential: M.Sc. in Plant Breeding/ Genetics/ Plant Sciences/ Biotechnology Desirable: Experience in conducting field experiments, crossing and data collection, molecular biology techniques etc.
Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs. 8000/- p.m.
IV. DBT project on “Identification of QTLs for the genetic improvement of stover quality and resistance to foliar diseases in dual purpose sorghum”. Duration: 10 months

Senior Research Fellow (SRF) - 1 post
Qualifications - Essential: First class M.Sc. in Genetics/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry Desirable: Work experience in molecular biology techniques, QTL mapping, microarray, sequencing, primer designing, Laboratory Information Management System, bioinformatics
Emoluments: Consolidated pay of Rs.12000/- p.m. plus 30%HRA
Terms and Conditions:

1. Age (as on 1.11.2009): JRF: Below 30 years for men and 35 years for women; SRF: Below 35 years for men and 40 years for women, RA: Below 40 years for men and 45 years for women. The relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates is permissible.
2. The candidate has to produce his/her original certificates along with a set of Xerox and a photo list of publications and other documents such as experience and caste certificate at the time of interview for verification and required to submit the bio-data in the format given below (affixing a latest passport size photograph), along with attested copies of certificates of educational qualifications.
3. The above positions are purely temporary and coterminous with the project/scheme.
4. The number of positions is subject to change depending on the funding (start and continuation of).
5. No TA/DA will be paid to attend the interview.
6. The Director’s decision will be final and binding in all aspects.
