Applications are invited for the post of JRF (@ Rs 16,000 + HRA 20%) in the DBT project entitled ‘Perinatal viral infection: neuroimmunological, molecular and cognitive consequences during development, adulthood and senility in rats’ (BHU code no. P-07-534) sanctioned for three years.

The post is temporary and co-terminus with project.

The candidate should be M.Sc. in Zoology/Life Science/Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/Neuroscience with at least 55% and NET/GATE qualified.

Preference will be given to the candidates with experience in the relevant area. Upper age limit 28 years (5 years age relaxation for female/SC/ST/OH candidate
as per GoI rule).

Essential qualification and experience:

1) Administrative Assistant (One Post):-

Qualification and Experience: Any Graduate from a recognized university and 2 year experience and he /she should have good knowledge of computer and also familiar with MS Office and other computer programs like Adobe Reader, PDF Reader and e-mails.

Desirable: 3 years or more experience in matters related to administration, purchase, store etc., good Computer skills and good communication skills.

ÂÂ Duration: 11 months purely on contract basis and also extendable based on satisfactory work and performance.

2) Junior Research Fellow (Two Posts):-

Qualification and Experience: M.Sc. in Microbiology/Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/Life Science from a recognized University and one year experience of lab work.

Desirable: Practical experience of techniques of molecular biology and computer skills of using molecular bio-informatics data bases for applicants with degrees in any of the biological sciences and experience of extraction; fractionation; bioactivity screening and characterization of bioactive molecules for applicants with degrees in chemical and pharmaceutical sciences; publications; familiar to use lab equipments and skills of swimming / diving.

Duration: 11 months purely on contract basis and also extendable based on satisfactory work and performance.

3) Project Assistant:-

Qualification and Experience: M.Sc. in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology from a recognized university.

Desirable: Ready for field collections; good communication and writing skills in English, computer skills, aptitude to learn new lab work, maintenance of equipments, log books and any other work assigned and also skills of swimming / diving.

Duration: 11 months purely on contract basis and also extendable based on satisfactory work and performance.

The above mentioned posts are purely contract basis initially for 11 months, with a scope of renewal, based on satisfactory work and performance.

Interested candidates should appear for interviews at Marine BioResource Centre, Room No. 52, Dhanvantari Mandir, Gujarat Ayurved University, Bedi Bandar Road, Jamnagar-361008, on 3^rd March, 2014, at 11:00 hrs. The registration for the interview shall be from 11:00 am to 02:00 pm.Â

The applicants are supposed to bring copies of proof of age, qualification, experience, biodata (Curriculum vitae) and other documents and the respective documents in originals for verification. Candidates without the originals will not be considered and will be summarily rejected. The applicant is supposed to submit the application form with original signature and photograph, apart from the biodata. Applications not found properly filled, will be rejected.

GENERAL info on DBT JRF 2014 

 
Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the award of "DBT-Junior Research Fellowship" (DBT-JRF) for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and Applied Biology. JRFs will be selected according to merit under two categories: Category I & II. Category I fellowship (Top 275 in number) are tenable in any University/Institute in India where the students can register for Ph.D. Category II students (100 in number) will be eligible to join any DBT sponsored Project and avail fellowship equivalent to NET/GATE qualifications as per DST Guidelines, subject to selection through institutional selection process. Fellowship will be co-terminus with the duration of project and institutional rules will be applicable. There will be no binding on PI is of DBT sponsored projects to select JRF/SRF for their projects from category II list. ELIGIBILITY for DBT JRF 2014

Candidates can appear for BET examination only thrice during their career within the prescribed age limit. Candidates who have completed eligibility qualification in a year will be eligible to appear in that year and two subsequent years. Students who have passed after Jan.1, 2012 or will appear this year (till August, 2014) final examination of qualifying degree is eligible. Students with M.Sc. / M.Tech / M.V.Sc. degree with Biotechnology in title of degree e.g. Biotechnology, specialization such as Agricultural, Animal/Veterinary, Medical, Marine, Industrial, Environmental, Pharmaceutical, Food, Bio-resources Biotechnology, "Biochemical Engineering, Bio-sciences and Biotechnology, Bioinformatics" and M.Sc. "Molecular & Human Genetics" and M.Sc. "Neuroscience" as well as B.Tech / B.E. in Biotechnology (4-year course after 10+2) recognized by UGC/AICTE are eligible for this examination. The applicants should be below the age of 28 years for Open category as on 28'h February 2014. Candidates with minimum 60% for general and OBC category (55% for SC/ST/PH) of the total marks (equivalent grade) are only eligible. DBT-BET (category I) entitles a candidate for fellowship subjectto Ph.D registration ofthe candidate in a recognized university or Institute in the country within 2 years. At present, very few institutes or universities allow B.Tech students to register for Ph.D. directly. Registration for Ph.D is candidate's responsibility and NCCS or DBT have no role in this.

RESERVATIONS for DBT JRF 2014

Government of India guidelines for reservations will be followed for BET-2014. Age relaxation of 5 years (up to 33 years) for SC /ST/PH and women candidates and 3 years (31 years) for OBC candidates will  be given. OBC candidates should produce 'Non-creamy layer certificate for availing the relaxation. The age limit will be as on 28'h Feb. 2014. SC/ST/PH candidates with 55% of the total marks (equivalent ingrade) are eligible to apply.

DETAILS Of THE AWARD

The fellowship will be initially for a period of 3 years extendable for 2 more years based on performance. By the end of 2"" year, the performance of JRF will be assessed and will be upgraded to SRF. The fellowship for JRF / SRF will be @ Rs.16,000/- or 18,000/per month (based on qualification) + HRA as per DST guidelines and research contingency of Rs. 30,000/- per year.

MODE Of SELECTION for DBT JRF 2014

The candidates will be selected based on an online admission test, "Biotechnology Eligibility Test" (BET) to be conducted on 20th April, 2014 at 10 AM in the following twelve cities: New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Patna, Trivandrum & Ahmedabad.

MODE Of APPLICATION for DBT JRF 2014 

Candidates should register and apply online in the prescribed application form available at the URL http://nccs.sifyitest.com/BET2014 starting on 20'h February 2014. All the details about the application process and the examination are available on the web site. The last date for submission of online application form is 21 March, 2014. Stepwise procedure for filling the online application form, payment of application fees and uploading of required documents/ certificates is given in the above said URL. General/OBC candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs. 500/- and SC/ST/PH categories are exempted from payment of application fees. The application fees is payable either online or offline as detailed on the web site for completion of application process. The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. No TA will be provided to any candidate for attending the examination.
