CONTRACTUAL ENGAGEMENT OF PROJECT FELLOW

The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun invites applications from Indian nationals for
a Project Fellow (01) under the project entitled “Mangrove responses to sea level
change along a gradient of tectonic subduction – A multi-disciplinary approach”
purely on contractual basis. Details of the position along with essential and desirable
qualifications and brief description of work are given below:
Essential
Qualification (EQ)
First Class Master’s degree in Botany/Zoology/Wildlife
Sciences/Marine Biology/Life sciences or allied disciplines.
Desirable
Qualification (DQ)
Minimum one-year experience of field research on coastal
biodiversity or plant ecology
Knowledge of GIS and Data analysis in R statistics
Skills in scientific communication proven by publication(s)
in peer reviewed journal
Enthusiasm to work in remote islands of Andaman &
Nicobar
Work description
Work involves extensive travel and data collection in the
Andaman & Nicobar islands on mangrove biodiversity
related to sea level change
Candidate will conduct field research, data collection, data
analysis and preparation of scientific papers
Candidate will have to be physically fit for working in the
coastal areas of the remote islands with limited logistics
Duration 1 year (extendable up to 3 years depending upon the
performance of the candidate)
Emolument Rs. 25,000/- per month (consolidated)
Funding agency Department of Science and Technology, India.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. A single PDF file containing one-page write up on “statement of interest” and duly
signed application in the prescribed format along with all the supporting documents
(eg. certificates of educational qualification, NET/GATE certificate (if any),
extracurricular activity, and community certificate (if reserved category) etc.) should
be e-mailed to nehrup@wii.gov.in on or before 31 August 2019.
2. Candidates must clearly mention in their e-mail about the preferred mode of
interview (skype or interview in person). Also, mention the skype ID if opting for a
skype interview.
3. Age limit for the position is 28 years but age relaxation will be considered as per
Government of India norms for reserved category candidates.
4. The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview on 17 September 2019.
The interview can be either skype interview or interview in person depends on the
preference given by the candidates. Candidates preferred to appear for interview in
person must report at the WII, Dehradun on 17 September 2019 at 9.30 hrs with
their filled-in application along with original documents/certificates for verification.
5. At the time of verification of original documents or even after selection, if it is found
that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal, misrepresent
or canvass the facts, such applicant will not be considered for selection and due
action will be taken.
6. The Institute will not provide any accommodation and TA/DA for candidates
appearing for the personal interview.
