JRF at SASTRA, Tamilnadu

Project Title Investigating the effect of Osmolytes on the Interplay of Dynamics of Water, protein and DNA: Implications for Modulating Protein-DNA Specificity
Funding Agency Department of Biotechnology, Government of India
Duration of Project 2018 – 2021
Fellowship NET/GATE qualified or M. Tech. INR 25000/month M. Sc. : INR 18000/month
Essential qualification First class in M. Sc. or M. Tech. (Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Physics, or related fields)
Project Description Engineering the specificity in protein-DNA interactions has immense therapeutic potential. However, a rational guideline to engineering specificity has been elusive till-date primarily because of the lack of fundamental understanding of the interplay between various factors contributing to protein-DNA interactions. This project aims at understanding the interplay of water and protein dynamics towards specificity in protein-DNA interactions. The project will employ computational methods (molecular dynamics simulations) to address the research question.
Interested candidates may send their latest resume by email to Dr. Vigneshwar Ramakrishnan (vignesh@scbt.sastra.edu) on or before 31 July, 2018.
Date of interview will be notified by email later. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
