Scale of pay:
Rs. 12,000 +HRA for JRF if GATE/NET (Fellowship) /BET/BINC not
qualified. For GATE/NET/BET/BINC qualified candidates Rs. 16,000 +HRA or
as per DBT norms.
Qualification:
Candidates with M.Sc/B.Tech/M.Tech or equivalent degree in any life
science related subjects. Candidates with experience in Protein
Biochemistry/ Infectious disease biology/Molecular Biology will be
preferred.
Terms: Appointment will be initially made for a period of one (1) year and may be extended for up to maximum duration of the project.

of Biotechnology, Govt of India project entitled ‘Molecular Diversity of
Coral Zooxanthellae of Palk Bay Coast, India’ purely in project mode,
initially for a period of one year extendable further based on
performance.
1. Junior Research Fellows (2 Nos):
To work on Molecular Taxonomy of scleractinian corals of Palk Bay,
Southeast coast of India – Assess the environmental gradients as well as
species diversity of corals and zooxanthellae across the environmental
gradients and the phylogenetic relationship of zooxanthellae analysed –
Involves extensive laboratory and field works.
Emoluments: Rs 12,000 p.m. + 20% HRA for 1st and 2nd years and Rs 14,000 p.m. for 3rd year + 20% HRA.
Essential qualification(s):
M.Sc., in Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Genomics/ Biotechnology/Marine
Biology/Biology/Zoology with 60% marks or equivalent grade. Candidates
having qualified and a valid NET/SLET or GATE with at least one year of
research experience in Molecular Biology or M.Phil., with two years of
experience in molecular techniques.
Desirable qualification(s):
Preferences will be given to candidate who will be a good knowledge in
sea-swimming/skin diving/snorkeling, since the proposed project involves
more Underwater Surveys to study the status of corals of Palk Bay as
well as collection of coral samples. The staff will be selected as per
the norms. Candidates with strong aptitude for research will be
encouraged to register for Ph.D. degree.
2. Laboratory Assistant (1 No.):
To help conduct marine field survey along the coast of Palk Bay and
collect corals –involves extensive field work and laboratory works.
Emoluments: Rs 6000 p.m. consolidated.
Minimum qualification(s): Minimum
10th Pass. Desirable: Preference will be given to candidate who will be
either trained or experienced divers and sea swimmers with previous
experience in marine related underwater survey works.
