CDFD, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following purely temporary vacancies in research projects funded by National / International agencies at CDFD like DST/DBT/ICMR/CSIR etc. The description of the positions and minimum qualifications for various vacancies are as follows:

1. Project Associate/Research Associate :

Minimum qualifications:

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics / Chemistry / Life Science / Biotechnology / Genetics / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Bioinformatics from recognized University / Institute.
OR
M.Sc. in Physics / Chemistry / Life Science / Biotechnology / Genetics / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Bioinformatics from recognized University / Institute with three years of experience in research.

2. Project - Junior Research Fellow / Project Assistant :

Minimum qualifications:

M.Sc. in Physics / Chemistry / Life Science / Biotechnology / Genetics / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Bioinformatics / Medicinal Chemistry from recognized University / Institute with experience in research as demonstrated by the successful completion of a research project in a reputed Institute / Centre.

General Terms and Conditions:

  1. For all the above posts candidates should not have completed the age of 35 years. Age limits shall be reckoned as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

  2. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

  3. Depending on the qualifications, experience and recommendations of the Selection Committee, the selected candidates may be placed in a scale and designation lower than the grade advertised/applied (in the same group)

  4. All these positions are purely temporary and are initially for a period of one year. They could be extended/terminated depending on the continuation of the project(s).

  5. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules.

  6. Mere fulfilling the minimum qualifications will not entitle the candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be screened by a Committee and candidates found suitable will be called for interview. The decision of the Director, CDFD will be final in this respect and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

  7. Any of the selected individuals may from time to time be assigned to perform any other duties commensurate with their qualifications, by the Director, CDFD.

  8. The Director, CDFD reserves the right to suitably change/relax any of the above conditions. He also reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.

Examination Fee:
The candidates applied for the position of Project Assistant / Project - Junior Research Fellow are requested to pay an examination fee of ₹ 200/- (Rupees two hundred only) by way of Demand draft / IPO drawn in favour of "The Director, CDFD" payable at Hyderabad.
Exemption from Fee:

  • No fee for the candidates applied for the position of Project Associate / Research Associate
  • No fee for SC, ST, Physically challenged and women candidates.
    No fee exemption is, however, available to OBC candidates.
    The printout of the completed application form alongwith the certificate in support of date of birth, educational qualifications, caste and NET fellowship etc. and fee of ₹. 200/- (Rupees two hundred only) by way of Demand draft / IPO drawn in favour of "The Head .     Caste certificate in case of SC / ST and Disability Certificate in case of Physically Challenged candidate issued by the Competent Authority should be enclosed with an application.
    All the candidates including those who are exempted from payment of fee, whether applying online or otherwise should also send the printout of the application.
    The online facility of application will open on 16.01.2012 and will be closed on 15.02.2012.
    The last date for receipt of the printout of the applications is 17.02.2012 and applications received after 17.02.2012 will be rejected.
    Applications without the requisite fee, caste / disability certificate (if applicable) or received after the last date are liable to be rejected.
    The names of short-listed candidates will be displayed on our website and only the short-listed candidates will be called for LAN based Examination / interview. The individual Admit Card / Hall Ticket with details of username, password, venue of the examination and time will be sent through e-mail. No individual intimation letter would be sent.

    Walk in interview for Positions of DBT funded project available in National Centre for Neurotoxicity Research to assist Drug Development, Department of Pharmacology and Environmental Toxicology as per the following details for engagement on temporary basis:

    Project: "Role of Metals in the Etiopathogenesis of Parkinson's disease",

    Senior Research Fellow( SRF) – 1 No.

    Qualifications: First Class Master’s Degree in MSc /M.Tech in Life Sciences or its equivalent from a recognized university with two years research experience. M.Phil., Candidates with one year research experience. Should have passed in National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted jointly by CSIR-UGC/GATE.

    Desirable Qualification: Knowledge and experience in animal handling and sample collection, maintenance and operation of sophisticated equipment like ICP-MS, GC MS, HPLC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer etc.

    Emoluments: Senior Research Fellow Rs. 20,000/, + 30% House Rent Allowance (as per revised emoluments vide DST OM A.20020/11/97-IFD dated: 31.03.2010).

    Laboratory assistant - 1 No.

    Qualifications Bachelor degree in Life Sciences or similar discipline. Working knowledge to use MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and document preparation is preferable.

    Nature of duties: Clean maintenance of Labs including cleaning of lab wares, equipments handling in addition to assisting analytical procedures. Assisting in all research work undertaken in the project.

    Emoluments: Rs. 8000/- consolidated

    B. Preference will be given to those candidates whose research interest and work experience has relevance to the Project. The selected candidates will be offered Fellowship for an initial period of 1 year and may be renewed up to 31.09.2014 if found satisfactory at the end of the first year.

    The above positions are temporary and co-terminus with the project. No TA/DA will be paid to any candidate for attending the interview. Candidate should not have any type of conviction in the court anywhere in India.

    C. HOW TO APPLY

    Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Senior Research Fellow in a research program entitled "ICMR Virology network Laboratory – Grade I" at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    M.Sc. in Life Sciences or M.Tech in Biotechnology with consistent good academic grades. Excellent practical knowledge of molecular biology techniques with a minimum of two years documented experience using molecular biology techniques in a good research laboratory.

    Valid NET/GATE/ICMR certification.

    Additional Desirable qualification: Research publications in indexed journals.

    EMOLUMENTS: Rs.18,000/- + 20% HRA per month.

    Duration: SRF positions will be initially for three years but extendable by one more year. First appointment will be for six months and extended only after a performance evaluation.
