Individual Scientific Research Awards 2015–2016

The Trustees of the Lady Tata Memorial Trust offer awards for scientific investigations having a bearing directly or indirectly on the alleviation of human suffering from disease.
Scholars recommended by an Indian university/institution, with first class academics (strictly 60% and above from Class X up-to-date), are required to work whole time under the direction of a scientist of standing in a recognized institution. Candidates with GATE/NET qualifications will be given preference.

Rates of awards and other particulars are as follows:

Applicants who have completed their M.Sc. graduation in 2013 or later should only apply for the academic year 2015–16 for the JR Award.

House Rent Allowance (HRA) at 25% of the value of their scholarship will be offered to scholars doing research work at universities/institutes/laboratories, in Metro Cities, i.e., Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, being educational locations outside their place of permanent residence. Scholars from other small towns/cities will receive HRA@10% of the value of their scholarship. A certificate should be submitted from the university/institute verifying the status of accommodation of the scholar. Scholars residing in accommodation provided by the institute/ university will not be eligible for HRA claim.

Project : "Engineering ToLCV resistance in tomato by using single and multiple artificial micro RNAs and synthetic Rep gene containing multiple mutations to resist VIGS"

Duration: The Project will continue till September 2017. The above mentioned position is completely temporary and is co-terminus with the project. Appointed persons will be expected to stay in the laboratory for the entire period of the project.

Salary : - As per DBT rules and guidelines for JRF.

Qualifications : - Eligible candidates should have a Post Graduate Degree in Life Sciences / Biochemistry / Biotechnology and CSIR / UGC/ JRF or NET qualified. Candidates having research experience in the area of Plant Molecular Biology / Biotechnology / Virology will be preferred.
